Tips from the Horse's Mouth :

Weather this is your first trip to Phnom Penh or you're a regular, here are some tips and highlights that may not be in your guidebook. We'll hit the must sees and some other things that are slightly off the beaten path but well worth the extra effort.

Tourist "Must See" - Royal Palace & Silver Pagoda

The Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda are located just off Sisowath Quay (riverside) nestled in a miriad of restaurants and shops and fronted by a nice park area to have a sit and relax. The Silver Pagoda is housed within the Royal Palace so you can kill two birds with one inflated ticket price. Only kidding, it is quite a sight to see.

Tourist "Must See" - Wat Phnom

Located in the middle of a round about and surrounded by nice vegitation to keep the temperature down and aggresive monkeys to keep you on your toes this is a must see. Make sure to bring lots of small money, low denominations of the native currency, to hand out to the poor and unfortunate. Be very wary at night however because some of these poor and unfortunate become very opportunistic and have little trouble taking things in forceful ways
